Setting up Twitter on On-Premise

You must have your own Twitter developer account to use Twitter On-Premise. This is required because you need to create and authenticate your App with Deskpro. Once this is done setup is same as for Cloud.

Creating your Twitter app & linking it to Deskpro

The first step is to setup your Twitter developer account, sign up page. (Twitter support documentation) Once your account is approved, this can take several days, follow these steps;

  1. Log in to the Twitter developer portal

  2. Go to the “Projects & Apps” section and click “Add App”

  • Select the “production” option for environment.

  • You can either copy the API Key and Secret to a safe place or generate new ones later.

  1. After creating your app click to setup the app’s “User authentication settings”

  2. Enable both OAuth 1.0a and OAuth 2.0

  3. Ensure that Read/Write and Direct Message access is selected

  1. Give a callback URL, it is required but it isn’t used. Any valid URL on your domain needs to be added.

  2. Verify that a green dot is showing next to “OAuth 1.0a and OAuth 2.0 turned on”.

  3. Go to Admin > Channels > Twitter > Apps

  4. Click the + New button and fill in the form.

  • Nickname: Any name you chose

  • App ID: Can be found in the Twitter Developer Portal on the App’s “Setting” tab under “App Details”

  • API Key & API Secret: If you stored them earlier, copy them across. Or to go the “Keys and tokens” tab to generate new ones.

  1. Click Add
