Preparing your OPC server
For this method you will need an SSH user that has sudo permissions and the IP address of the server with your Deskpro v5 instance. You will also need to be able to connect to the v5 server over SSH from the OPC server.
Login to the OPC with either your login credentials or generate a login token on the command line with
sudo opc session
Click on the New button under Instances, then select Import Instance.
If you want to perform a test import, click the Test option. Otherwise, if you are performing a live migration, select the Production option.
Test Instances cannot be converted to Live Instances, and must be deleted then re-imported under the Production option
To login to a test instance, you must append .test
to your email address. If you use an external authentication method, you can login using a login token:
opc inst -i {instanceID} login-token {email_address}.test copy
Select Version 5 as the import source, then confirm that all steps have been completed and click Continue.
Select Connect via SSH, then on the following page input the SSH credentials for your Deskpro v5 server. You can use either an SSH private key or use the password to connect. If you have Deskpro installed in a custom directory, specify that under the Deskpro install path.
Click Validate Credentials when done, and the OPC will check to make sure the credentials work and that your v5 helpdesk is ready for import.
Finally review the Instance information. At this point, you can change the name of the instance, or configure the use of external databases and elasticsearch. If everything is correct, click on Import Instance to start the migration.
