Checking all required features are active for Horizon
For Deskpro Horizon a number of updated and new features are required to be enabled before you can migrate successfully. If your helpdesk is upto date it is most likely that these features are already enabled.
To see if any features need to be enabled, navigate to the admin dashboard of your helpdesk and the Features panel is located at the bottom of the page:
Before enabling these features please take a backup of your helpdesk in case you have any problems with the new features.
Enable each feature in the list until the list shows no more items left to enable, some items in the list have links to further documentation.
Using the Deskpro v5 migration tool to prepare for your update to Horizon
From version 2022.1.0 of the legacy version of Deskpro, there is a built in migration tool with a number of checks to make sure you have a smooth update to Deskpro Horizon.
From your helpdesk go to the Admin dashboard
Make sure your version of Deskpro is on at least 2022.1.0
To access the migration tool click the link "Learn how to upgrade to Horizon"
Please be aware that any features that are not enabled as per the top guide on this page will display a problem on the migration tools page
You can create a backup with these errors showing, but your migration to Horizon may not work correctly, click the 'ignore errors and create a data dump' button to start the backup process.
Once all features are enabled and there are no warnings, click the 'configure a new data dump' link to create a full backup of your helpdesk that will be used for the migration:
The data dump page has a randomly generated Encryption Passkey that is used to secure the .zip file that is created, please make a note of this as it will be required to import the backup into Horizon
You also have the option to disable your current helpdesk, this is for customers wanting to do a live migration to Horizon to prevent both the old and new helpdesks running at the same time
Once configured, click 'begin' to generate the backup file. Depending on the size of your database and attachments, this may take some time. Once completed the migration tool will provde a URL and the Encryption Passkey again for use in one of our Horizon migration methods:
To delete the file after use you have the 'Clear backup' option at the bottom of the page.
