How to install the On-Premise Controller / Deskpro Horizon on a Windows server that already has an older Deskpro version installed on
Please take a complete backup of your current Deskpro server before performing the in-situ update as the process cannot be reversed should you run into any issues.
This method will allow you to install Deskpro Horizon on the same Windows server you have Deskpro v5 installed. At the start of the process you will need to decide if you want to import your older helpdesk or if you want an empty install of the OPC / Deskpro Horizon.
Download the latest version of Deskpro Horizon from here.
Once the executable has downloaded run the file to install the software. The installer will detect your existing version of Deskpro and prompt you for the installation method you want to use:
Upgrade existing service - This method will upgrade your existing Deskpro version from the previous version to Deskpro Horizon. Once the installation is complete your helpdesk will be running the new version of Deskpro
Disable existing service and create new helpdesk - This method will disable your existing helpdesk so that the new version of Deskpro and the OPC can be installed. This method will create a brand-new instance of Deskpro and will not move any of your data across.
Once accepting the EULA click Install to continue with your chosen installation method.
Depending on the specification and available reassures the install can take a few minutes, once the install is completed click close to complete the install of Deskpro.
Once installed the Deskpro entry in your start menu will look as follows:

Configure Deskpro - This is for your older installation of Deskpro and not used for the OPC and Deskpro Horizon
Deskpro - This will load the On Premise Controller
Launch Deskpro Systray - If Deskpro is not running this will start the services
Once the install is completed you can right click on the Deskpro Icon in your system tray to access the On-Premise Controller and your helpdesk.
Open On-Premise Controller - This will open the OPC panel in your browser, the first time you launch this you will need to set the master password for your OPC

Open Helpdesk (Name) - This will open your helpdesk in your browser
Appliance status and Console - This will open the Deskpro Virtual Machine in a new Window
Start Appliance - This will be greyed out as the Deskpro Virtual Machine is already running
Restart Appliance - This will restart the Deskpro Virtual Machine
Shutdown Applicance - This will shutdown the Deskpro Virtual Machine
Exit - This will exit the Deskpro application

Final Steps
Once you have completed the migration, please follow the final steps to open your new helpdesk.
Windows final steps Once you are happy that the On Premise Controller is installed and your helpdesk you can uninstall the older version of Deskpro via the Windows application manager.
