If you currently use an external database, and want to use the same external database for Deskpro Horizon, you have the option for an in-situ update.

Note

We advise that you run a test migration of this method before running a production migration.

For this you will need to create a clone of your production helpdesk to be used in the test migration.

This method will change the database structure and if you run into any issues during the process, the database changes are not revertible

Before running the migration you will need to create a zip file of your helpdesk attachments using one of methods linked below:

dputils method

URL export method

Once you have a backup of your database and the attachments zip file you can proceed with the migration.

Warning

At several steps during this process you will be asked to confirm that you have taken a database backup. This is because the in-situ migration method will make significant changes that cannot be reverted to the database you specify for the upgrade process.

We strongly advise backing up your database before attempting any in-situ upgrade as there is no method to roll back in the event of any issues, and Deskpro Support will not be able to assist without a database backup.

You can find the OPC webGUI by going to https://<opc_IP_address>:29443 or your OPC domain in your browser. image.png

opc inst -i {instanceID} login-token {email_address}.test

Once you have confirmed the backup has completed, you should see the Import Instance form. For this, you will need to provide the connection details for your helpdesk and validate the parameters to confirm that the OPC can access the database successfully. Import Instance in-situ You will then need to either provide an attachments archive, or specify your pre-seeded directory path containing your attachments.

Once all the details are filled in click "Import Instance" to apply the settings you have provided. This will update your database to Horizon and your instance will then be managed from within the OPC.
