There are multiple methods to install the Deskpro On-Premise Controller. The document below covers any requirements to use these methods, and the pros and cons of each.
Install on Linux via the installation script
Requirements
A fresh installation of a supported Linux distro.
Pros
Extremely configurable for advanced users.
Can be installed on a Virtual Machine, Cloud or Baremetal server.
Cons
Requires at least basic Linux knowledge to install.
Installation Guide
Install on Windows via the Windows Installer
As Windows does not currently support the dependencies which Deskpro requires, the Windows installer will install a virtual machine using either VirtualBox or Hyper-V.
As this would cause nested virtualization with significant performance degradation if installed on cloud or a virtual machine, the installer will refuse to complete if it detects virtualized hardware.

A Baremetal installation of Windows
Virtualization enabled in BIOS
Pros
Easy to install for trial / demo purposes.
Additional controls for service management.
Cons
Requires a Baremetal installation of Windows.
Installation Guide
Install on VMWare / VirtualBox / Hyper-V using VM Image
Requirements
A hypervisor running either VMWare or Hyper-V, or a baremetal computer running VirtualBox.
Pros
Easy to set up, just upload the image and start the VM.
Simple install does not require prior Linux knowledge
Cons
Default specification may not be ideal for everyone.
Requires DHCP to install without manual configuration.

Requirements
A cloud account on a supported Cloud provider
Pros
Easy to install through the Cloud provider's marketplace
Does not require any pre-existing setup.
Cons
Cloud services may not meet security/data requirements.
