Configuring a Web Source

Set up a web source to use the content of an external website or knowledge base as a Data Source. The content will be indexed and can power features such as AI Draft Reply, AI Search, and AI Chatbot.

At least one AI Data Source must exist. You can learn how to set one up here.

In Admin, go to AI > AI Data Sources > Web Sources.

To add a web source, click the + New button.

  1. Enter the name you want the call the Web source

  2. Enter URL of the website.

  3. Select the Data Source you wish to access the to scraped data.

  4. Configure the scraping settings. Choose which sections, pages, or domains Deskpro should include, and set any rules or filters you need.

  5. Click Create at the bottom of the drawer.

The web source will now be available as a content source for the selected data source(s).

Web Source Requirements


  • The website must be publicly accessible and not require login credentials.

  • Only text content will be indexed; images and media files are excluded.

  • If the website’s content changes, you can re-index to keep your data up to date.
