On the portal page, it requires an email and password, but on the agent portal, it can be a username or email. Can I keep that same login method for users?

This would make a big difference to us. We have clients who we need to give them user credentials, so no email addresses from them, so having to use either dummy or variations of internal addresses. If this has to continue, we could give the username and password, rather than the email, which being a dummy, looks unprofessional.
