In order to enable the ability for a user to start a conversation via the messenger widget, you need to add a Message Card to either the Home Tab or the Messages Tab if in card mode. If you are only using Message Only Mode then a Message Card is added to your widget by default.
Configuring your Message Card is easy. You will need a Chatflow configured in order to use the Message Card. We provide you with a demo chatflow that fits agnostic use cases by default. You can learn how to setup your own Chatflow here.
When you have a Chatflow created, and expand the Message Card to see the settings, then the first dropdown is to select your chatflow. If you only have 1 chatflow configured, this will appear automatically. If you have more than 1 configured, you’ll have to choose which one you want to use. Additionally, you can click on Create new chatflow
which will take you directly to the Chatflows page to create a new one. Once done, return back to the Message Card and you’ll see the new chatflow in the dropdown list.
💡 Remember to publish your chatflow before use! Otherwise it will not run.
Next, setup the Title and Message of the Message Card. The Title and Message will appear in the Message Card button that a user will need to press in order to start a conversation.
If you have additional languages configured for use in your widget, then the additional langauges will appear in the translation button. Fill these in in the appropriate language, and when your user opens the widget with a language that is detected to match with a language you have enabled, then the Message Card title and message will appear in that language.
Lastly, select the usergroup permissions. This allows you to choose who can and cannot see the Message Card. If you do not add any, then the Message Card will default to show for all guests. If you wish to exclude certain permission groups from viewing this card, you can add them to the Exclude list.
Message History Card
The only settings that need to be configured in the Message History Card is which permission groups you wish to include and exclude from accessing their message history. Setting the Usergroups
setting will display the widget as you have configured it to the define usergroup. Inversely, if you add exclude Usergroups, then they will not have access to the widget as you have configured it.
