Sometimes you might have separate Tickets that relate to the same issue.

For example, suppose a User raises a Ticket and you need to discuss it with an outside contractor. You don’t want to change the Ticket User, and you don’t want to add the contractor as an Agent.

The solution is to create a linked Ticket, using Linked Ticket from the Ticket Actions menu.

The new linked Ticket acts like an independent Ticket, but it’s linked to the original Ticket making it easy to stay on top of what is going on with the issue. You access linked tickets from the Linked Tickets tab on the ticket properties panel.

When you're linking tickets you can select which ticket you want to be the parent and which should be the child.

Note

Checking the Make this the parent ticket checkbox will make the ticket you are linking from the properties panel the Parent ticket.

It is important to know that parent and child tickets are just connected for ease of access, they will act independently of each other. For example, if you resolve the parent ticket it will not automatically resolve any child tickets linked to it.
